IPY Youth Time Capsule
Yukon College Main Entrance Foyer
October 2 to 5, 2009
The International Polar Year (IPY) Time Capsule Project is a youth-led initiative, aimed at involving northern youth in the International Polar Year in meaningful and creative ways.
The project exhibit has been developed based on the belief that youth participation is essential to ensuring the lasting legacy of IPY.
To date, the IPY Youth Time Capsule Project has included photography, visual art and youth surveys and is now seeking writing pieces so that a written interpretation of life in the north through the eyes of youth can be presented alongside the project's visual components.
Youth between 12 and 18 are encouraged to submit their writing, art work, photography or video clips. For more information, please contact ipy.timecapsule@gmail.com.
The Communities of Change – Building an IPY Legacy conference is honoured to feature over 20 pieces from the exhibit on site at Yukon College throughout the duration of the conference.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to take in the exhibit and enjoy this wonderful “snap shot” of northern life.
